Practice
This decorated ceramic was discovered in a network
of Rock- cut buddhist caves in Baicheng County, Xinjiang, China.
It dates back to the fifth Century.
In this picture, an angel plays the shakuhachi in the position known as seiza.
The myoan style transmitts these pieces in the traditional way, from teacher to pupil, ideally in the formal position of seiza.
You must commit to practice almost every day over a period of long time, but the benefits are immense.
I found this instrument wonderful for meditation.
It also works as a very effective deep body and energetic excercise ("chi gung").

Regular practice can help lower blood pressure and tonifiy the diaphragm.
Practice also improves one's posture.
In the modern world we almost all suffer from chronic bad posture and its ill effects
Its sound is also very therapeutic and enjoyable for listeners. I used to play my
baby daughter to sleep with it!
